New Horizon's interview with Cabin Radio

On Monday Meghan Kennedy, the volunteer chair of United Way NWT’s Covid-19 committee, had an interview with Cabin Radio to talk about the New Horizons for Seniors program that the United Way NWT is helping implement in the Northwest Territories.

“We’re looking to support basic needs first and foremost like food and hygiene products, including getting them to the communities," said Kennedy.

“The second big focus is to reduce the social isolation of – in addition to being in a remote community – now being in your home without maybe the means or capability to communicate. That may mean looking at virtual programming, how we get mental health supports in.”

The United Way NWT is distributing fifteen $5,000 grants ($75,000 in total funding) to NWT programs supporting local residents 55 years and older and/or their givers. United Way is excited to be involved in implementing this program and in supporting the immediate needs of NWT seniors and their caregivers.
