Over $150,000 Raised to Support Together We Are Strong campaign in response to COVID-19
During difficult financial times, northerners came together to donate what they could to support one another. Through the generosity of the people of the NWT, the United Way NWT, in partnership with the Yellowknife Community Foundation, have managed to fundraised more than $150,000 to support programming across the NWT. The Together We Are Strong campaign has now provided funding to more than 25 organizations, across 17 communities, helping to assist the most vulnerable people of the NWT in responding to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Programming includes support for food, mental health support, PPE, and cleaning supplies, as well as other supports.
The following donors contributed donation between $1,000 and $25,000 to United Way NWT COVID-19 campaigns and deserve special recognition: Yellowknife Co-op, Global Storm IT, The Otto and Marie Pick Foundation, the Rotary Club of Yellowknife, Det’on Cho Logistics, Scotia Bank, the Gold Terra Resource Corporation, JK Cleaning and Maintenance Ltd., the Gwichin’ Tribal Council. The United Way NWT is proud to be able to contribute to the good work that these organizations will be undertaking. The United Way NWT is continuing to look for ways to support the needs of NWTers through the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
