Position title: Campaign Coordinator

Type: Part time, 20 hours week on contract basis

Reports to: Chair

Job summary: The Campaign Coordinator carries out the administrative and operational functions of the United Way NWT and supports the board of directors in carrying out the mission and mandate of the United Way NWT.  The suggested time allocation is 60% administration, 30% campaign planning and implementation, and 10% on board support.

Work performed:

  1. Administrative
  • Manage the overall administrative function of the United Way NWT office
  • Act as central communication point for United Way NWT
  • Respond to emails and phone calls; provide referral information as requested
  • Perform standard bookkeeping tasks including entering deposits, cheque writing and creating reports
  • Basic bookkeeping (financial data entry, preparing bank deposits and preparing cheques)
  • Ensure payment of all United Way NWT obligations, including designation payments and expenses are made on schedule
  • Ensure paper and electronic files and records are properly organized
  • Collect mail from Post Office and process all mailings
  • Assist with public relations, special events, website and social media
  1. Campaign
  • Work with the board to plan and implement the annual United Way NWT public campaign
  • Assist in preparation and production of campaign materials
  • Assist and liaise with workplace campaign coordinators from various government, business and community organizations
  • Make information presentations to communicate the United Way message to individuals and groups
  • Attend and assist with special events and other activities
  1. Donor Management
  • Maintain accurate donor information in donor database
  • Communicate regularly with donors
  • Complete yearly reporting and tax receipting
  1. Board support
  • Support the work of the board and its committees administratively
  • Assist with working to raise the profile of United Way NWT across the north
  • Seek out and apply for targeted funding from government and the private sector to cover operating costs

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent is required. At least one year of previous administrative assistant experience is preferred. Applicants of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of non-profit organizations
  • Working with volunteers is an asset
  • Utilizing social media

Skills:

  • Strong administrative skills and attention to detail
  • Basic bookkeeping (financial and data entry)
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and to identify tasks that need to be accomplished without directions
  • Enthusiastic and energetic individual; a team player
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer and website maintenance proficiency
  • Willingness to work flexible hours (includes occasional evenings)

Relationships: board of directors, executive committee, workplace coordinators, partner agencies, United Way Centraide Canada and other organizations.

Location: Yellowknife, NT

Salary: $30/hour, no other benefits

Schedule: Hours are flexible averaging 20 hours per week. The employee works on contract from his/her own work space.
